Admin: Îïèñàíèå îò ýêñïåðòà Critique from the STBEA Championship Show last weekend Scottish Terrier Breeders & Exhibitors Association 2 ÷ · Scottish Terrier Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association Championship Show 5 March 2016 Judges Report: Denise Sharples (Thalion) It was a privilege and a pleasure to be asked to judge at the STB&EA Championship Show, and I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for making me so welcome, I really enjoyed my day. I would particularly like to thank my two Ring Stewards Alan Goddard and John Whitby for the excellent way they carried out their duties and my special thanks also go to all the exhibitors who entered their dogs under me. I had some lovely quality dogs to go over and on the whole I felt that the breed has improved. Keep up the good work everyone. Special Triers Dog (2 entries) 1st Greenwood’s Petmon Royal Magician Sh CM - 7½ year old black dog, balanced head, correct eye shape and colour, straight front with plenty of bone, well ribbed, good rear angulation. Correct topline which he kept on the move. Moved well. 2nd Hill’s Polwicks Black Tourmaline of Tahgmor - 9 year old black dog, good head, dark eye, well off for bone, good front, deep ribs, level topline. Puppy Dog (2 entries, 1 absent) 1st Kenny-Marriott & Marriott’s Millingford Kings Choice – 11 month old black dog. A super puppy of correct breed type. Balanced head, correct dentition, dark almond shaped eye, creating a keen expression, neat ears, straight front, good neck into well placed shoulders, short with good ribs carried well back, correct rear angulation, well muscled. A very alert dog who moved freely around the ring. Pleased to award him the RCC and Best Puppy in Show. Novice Dog (1 Entry) 1st Young’s Kelticbright Jammie Dodger – 2 year old wheaten dog in good coat, good head, dark eye, correct dentition, good bone, rather long in back, good rear angulation. Graduate Dog (5 entries, 2 absent) 1st Beckton’s Glengracie Galileo – 2 year old dark brindle dog. Balanced head, dark eye with correct shape, alert expression, neat ears, straight front, good bone and substance, clean neck and shoulders, deep ribs, short backed with level topline, correct tailset. In good coat. Moved with drive. 2nd Bradley & Herd’s Brueik I have a Dream – 20 months old black dog. Good head, dark almond shaped eyes, correct dentition, would prefer neater ears, good flow from neck into correctly placed shoulders, short, balanced dog overall, good rear angulation. Moved well. 3rd Tyler’s Divadell Room at the Top Post Graduate Dog (5 entries) 1st Beckton’s Glengracie Galileo 2nd Pagram’s Torcraig Sydnificant – 2 year old black dog, balanced head, dark eye, neat ears correctly placed, correct shoulders, short body with well set tail, good ribs and rear angulation. Sound mover with drive. 3rd Hovagimyan’s Jr Ch. Verascott Jumpin Jack Flash Limit Dog (4 entries) 1st Annan’s Lomondview Man in Black – 2½ year old black dog. A small compact dog with a balanced head, dark eye, neat ears, correct neck and shoulders, short body with ribs carried well back, good topline and correct tailset. Moved well. 2nd Hills’ Rolanka Pass the Buck to Benartybrae – 5 year old wheaten dog. Balanced head, dark eye, Bigger sized dog with excellent bone and substance, low to ground, short backed, correct tailset, good shoulders and rear angulation, firm topline. Moved well but carrying too much weight. 3rd Meek’s Benartybrae Macarena at Benbetham Open Dog (6 entries, 3 absent) 1st Plane’s Ch. Stuane Kings Sword – 2½ year old black dog. What a wonderful dog he is, just what you want in a Scottish Terrier, true breed type. Must admit I have liked this dog from the first time I saw him in a Minor Puppy Class and I was not disappointed when I went over him. Balanced head, correct dentition, dark almond shaped eye with correct expression. Straight front well-boned, good neck flowing into well-laid back shoulders, deep ribs carried well back, low to ground, well muscled correct rear angulation. Firm topline and correct tailset. In lovely coat and condition. Sound mover with excellent reach and drive. Dog CC and BIS. 2nd Rutherford’s Carisco Midas Touch – 4½ old wheaten dog. A bigger dog that 1st but still a quality Scottie with good breed type. Balanced head with a dark almond shaped eye, keen expression, straight front, excellent bone and substance, good neck into well laid back shoulders, ribs well rounded and low, short back, correct tailset. Firm topline that he kept on the move. 3rd Dixon’s Millingford Royal Eclipse at Chatterdale Breeders Dog (2 entries, 1 absent) 1st Hovagimyan’s Jr Ch. Verascott Jumpin Jack Flash – 2 year old black dog. Balanced head, correct eye and expression, excellent bone and substance, good shoulder and rear angulation, short back and good tailset. Level topline that he kept on the move. Veteran Dog (2 entries) 1st Greenwood’s Petmon Light of my Life – 9 year old black dog. A very smart veteran and not looking his 9 years, balanced head, correct dentition, dark eyes, neat ears, short, moved really well. In lovely coat and condition. 2nd Hill’s Polwicks Black Tourmaline of Tahgmor Junior Handling – 6 to 11 years 1st Connor Chapman, did a brilliant job handling his bitch. For someone so young he was very calm and collected. His dog made him work hard on the move but he took his time, talked to her and settled her down to move well. 2nd Eloise Norton 3rd Frances Norton Junior Handling – 12 – 16 years 1st Kim Westwood – I really felt for her, her dog was being a stubborn Scottie. She did try really hard, keeping calm when it refused to move. I hope all goes well for her next time. Special Triers Bitch (3 entries) 1st Greenwoods Petmon Miss Tiggywinkle Sh CM. Very smart 9 year old black bitch, with a balanced head, good dentition, correct eye shape and colour, small neat ears, good shoulder and ribs, low to ground, level topline, good rear angulation. Moved well. 2nd Hill’s Skircoat Sicilienne of Tahgmor - 17 month old black bitch, excellent bone and substance, correct eye and dentition, would like neater ears, correct shoulder, good ribs carried well back and correct rear angulation, low to ground, moved well. 3rd Hardy’s Dojanfor Long Awaited of Maganthan Minor Puppy Bitch (2 entries) 1st Rutherford’s Apsla Madam Midas of Carisco – Very feminine 8 month old wheaten bitch, balanced head, dark eye, neat ears, straight front, correct shoulders, short backed, good rear angulation. Moved well. 2nd Orr’s Orrscot Aine – Small 6 month old brindle bitch, balanced head and neat ears, straight front, low to ground, short. I would have preferred more bone and substance. Moved ok. Puppy Bitch (7 entries, 2 absent) 1st Chapman, Bradley & Herd’s Brueik Tickled Pink by Berrybreeze – An attractive happy little girl,11 month old black bitch. Balanced head, good dentition, dark almond shaped eye, deep set. Straight front, good neck and shoulders, low to ground, level topline, good hindquarters and tailset. Definitely one to watch. 2nd Schwartz’s Tredaly St Agnes – 11 month old black, feminine bitch, balanced head, correct eye and colour. Straight front, correct neck and shoulders, deep ribs, low to ground, good rear angulation. Showed and moved well. 3rd Kirk’s Millingford Fire Queen Junior Bitch (9 entries, 2 absent) 1st Annan’s Lomondview Honeysuckle – 16 months old, lovely wheaten bitch with a beautiful balanced head with the neatest of ears, dark almond shape eyes with correct expression, straight front, correct neck into well-laid back shoulders, ribs deep and carried well back, short body with good bone, good hindquarters. Moved well. Immature at the moment compared to the older bitches in the final line-up but I am sure she will do well in the future. One to watch. 2nd Emmins’ Trakside Fable of Wesscots – 1 year old black bitch. Another attractive bitch with a good head, dark eye, correct dentition, neat ears, good body proportions compact and deep, short backed, correct tailset. Moved well. A very nice bitch, shame she had to meet 1st. 3rd Ford’s Dojanfor’s Immaculator Maiden Bitch (1 entry) 1st Emmins’ Tredaly Ask Alice – 3 year old black bitch of good breed type. Feminine, good head, correct eyes and ears, straight front, good bone, deep ribs, level topline and correct tailset, good rear angulation, good coarse coat though slightly wavy, moved well. Novice Bitch (2 entries, 1 absent) 1st Ford’s Dojanfor’s Immaculator – 1½ year old black bitch, feminine head, dark eye, correct dentition, good ribs, short back with level topline, low to ground. Moved well. Graduate Bitch (4 entries) 1st Hovagimyan’s Jr Ch. Verascott Juicy Couture – Lovely black bitch 2 years old, balanced head, correct dark eye and neat ears, clean neck flowing into well-laid back shoulders, ribs carried well back, low and deep, level topline, good rear angulation, well muscled. Moved with drive around the ring. 2nd Dixon’s Sweetgarret Star over Chatterdale – 2½ year old black bitch. Good head with dark eye, correct dentition, straight front, correct shoulder, good ribs, deep and low, good rear angulation. This bitch had a lot of sparkle and pushed hard for 1st place but preferred the head and ears of 1. 3rd Hill’s Skircoat Sicilienne of Tahgmor Post Graduate Bitch (7 entries, 2 absent) 1st Rutherford’s Carisco My Leading Lady – 3 year old black brindle bitch. Good quality bitch, balanced head with dark almond shaped eye, lovely expression, correct dentition. Straight front, good shoulders, clean neck leading to good ribs carried well back, low to ground, correct tailset, good rear angulation, move with drive. In good coat and condition. 2nd Carpenter’s Blackthorpe Blowzabella at Westerleigh – 2 year old black bitch. Smart bitch with a feminine head, dark eyes and neat ears. Correct shoulders and rear angulation, short backed with deep ribs and level topline. Showed well. 3rd Chapman’s Berrybreeze I Love to Boogie Limit Bitch (4 entries, 2 absent) 1st Coley’s Kingsview Just Freya – 1½ year old black brindle bitch. Lovely bitch with balanced head, correct eyes and ears. Good straight front, correct shoulders, short backed, good ribs carried well back, low to ground, level topline and correct tailset, good rear angulation, moved with drive. In good coat and condition. 2nd Pagram’s Torcraig Sea Pearl – 2 year old black bitch. Balanced head with correct eyes and teeth, excellent bone and substance, straight front, short backed, ribs carried well back and deep, good rear end, level topline with correct tailset. Moved well. Open Bitch (4 entries, 2 absent) 1st Annan’s Lomondview Signature – 2½ dark brindle bitch. A beautifully balanced bitch with a stunning outline. Excellent head type, well balanced, dark eyes with correct expression, lovely neat ears, her neck just flowed into well-laid back shoulders, good bone and substance, ribs carried well back and deep, short backed with good tailset, correct rear angulation. Moved freely around the ring. It was a pleasure to award her the CC and RBIS. 2nd Hovagimyan’s Int. Ch. Verascott Fairy Queen, another lovely bitch. Bigger built than one, though still has the quality, balance and lovely outline. Excellent bone and substance, good head, dark eye and correct dentition, good lay back of shoulder, ribs carried well back, deep and low, short backed, good rear angulation, moved and showed well. 3rd Bryant’s Clanking Hattie McNattie Breeders Bitch (3 entries) 1st Chapman’s Berrybreeze Born to Boogie – 3 year old black bitch. A lovely bitch in beautiful condition. Very feminine balanced head, dark eye and neat ears, correct expression, straight front, good neck into well laid back shoulders, ribs, low and deep, carried well back. Short backed, good topline with tail well set, good rear angulation. Moved freely and showed well going around the ring. RCC 2nd Hovagimyan’s Jr Ch. Verascott Juicy Couture 3rd Mills’ Blackthorpe Lost in You Veteran Bitch (3 entries,1 absent) 1st Mahmoudi’s Ch. Sw.Ch. Brio Inquizitive – Lovely bitch, not looking her 10 years. Well balanced, in beautiful condition and coat, excellent bone and substance. Good head and eye, correct shoulder, ribs well back and deep, level topline, good rear angulation.
